Class Economy Update
The kids are doing a much better job of recording their credits/debits on their bank accounts. Getting an accurate balance, writing debit descriptions and transferring balances still needs additional practice. We will be moving to more individual debits and less group ones as we work to set more individual behavior goals. We have been establishing and practicing classroom procedures and I will begin to hold them more accountable for following them without so many reminders. I will continue to give daily group credits to promote teamwork and celebrate the improvements we make as a classroom community. I will not be using the letter grade that they record at the bottom for a behavior grade for quite sometime. Instead, it will be for self reflection, group and individual goal setting. They certainly aren't accurate enough yet to be reliable. It is a learning process and doesn't reflect all of the individual and class reminders that have been given. I really want this to be more about celebrating our weekly growth and practicing responsibility as we are adjusting to the expectations of being a third grader. I have been extremely impressed at how many students are choosing to transfer most of their weekly balances into savings for the quarter celebration! Please, have your child return their banking sheet on Mondays and keep encouraging them to try their best! I am proud of them as a class for following our morning procedures and being ready to learn! I'm happy with the improvements that they made this week with following Sun Devil hallway procedures. Our classroom focus for the next few week will be following restroom and afternoon clean up procedures. Don't be alarmed if you see more individual debits for talking, I will be giving fewer reminders next week. We discussed how talking is a distraction to our learning and reviewed why respectful listening is important during our class meeting.
Thanks for your support as we navigate through our learning journey!
